FAVACA Program Evaluation:
To better monitor and evaluate the projects that FAVACA supports each year, an evaluation process has been established to ensure client satisfaction and project sustainability. A program evaluation/study which can be found in the Journal of Social Work evaluated FAVACA's client and partner organizations satisfaction and the sustainability of FAVACA projects. Results of the 2004 study indicated that overall volunteer and partner organizations were more than satisfied with their participation in the program and rated FAVACA excellent and extremely helpful. To read the full study entitled: "Preliminary Program Evaluation of Florida Association of Voluntary Agencies for Caribbean Action, Inc. (FAVACA)" click here.
Highlights of the study include: 90% of the partner organizations responded that FAVACA had contributed to the strengthening and sustainability of their programs; 90% of the volunteer consultants polled responded that they had maintained consultations beyond the initial contact at least once through either telecommunication, electronic communication, or through travel to the country without FAVACA support, 100% of the volunteer consultants would volunteer again with FAVACA.
After each volunteer project, FAVACA's staff distributes evaluation forms to both the volunteer consultant and the partner organization. The surveys returned to FAVACA are then tabulated quarterly to provide FAVACA's staff with an overall assessment of client satisfaction and program sustainability.
One of the utmost priorities for FAVACA is our volunteer/consultant's satisfaction which is measured by how well FAVACA's staff matches the requested skills, identifying the scope of work, providing adequate travel and logistics, and if the volunteer/consultants would volunteer again. All of the volunteer consultants polled using these questions responded very favorably to the four questions with the majority giving high marks.
The second priority of FAVACA is our partner organization's satisfaction with the services that were provided to them. FAVACA asks the partner organization to evaluate if the volunteer consultant's skills matched the original request for assistance and if the partner organization would use the volunteer consultant again. Once again, the partner organizations ranked their satisfaction with FAVACA volunteer consultants high or very high.
Program sustainability is also surveyed every 6 months and yearly to help evaluate how the partner organizations are implementing the skills and information that the volunteer consultants provided. Likewise, partner organizations and volunteers are surveyed to find out if communication has continued after the initial volunteer consultancy. As previously stated, 90% of the partner organizations polled responded that FAVACA had contributed to the strengthening and sustainability of their programs and 90% of the volunteer consultants polled responded that they had maintained consultations beyond the initial consultancy.
